So I made a pretty amazing dinner last night. Steak with stuffing. The steak cost us about 10 ec, and the stuffing was 10 as well. Overall, this meal cost us about $3.50 us each to eat, which is pretty good considering how expensive steak is here. And it tasted pretty good :).
Today Kristen and I went grocery shopping. I thought I would lay all of my purchases out so you could see everything I got(excluding the mac book.) I spent 60 ec on this all, so about 25 us. Pretty good for 7 bags of juice, a loofah, dish detergent, chips, a big sturdy mixing bowl, figs, macaroni and cheese, noodles, and Alfredo sauce.
Here is a picture of a new fruit I brought home today! I don't even know the name, nor do I know how to get into it, but we will figure it out.
Overall, they give goats to farmers in need. Hopefully creating an eco friendly product, such as goat milk and cheese, will help these farmers succeed in their livelihood. They are working to "engage and assist the development of local, sustainable agricultural initiatives that can operate independently on the island, thereby increasing quality production." Anyways, if I can combind my love for animals with being able to help people on the island, I am all for it.
Today, a women affectionately called "the Goat Nanny" came over to teach me about local goat raising practices. She told me what they can eat, what they cannot, and showed me how to build them a proper enclosure. Tomorrow she is coming to pick Kristen and I up, and we are going to see a few week old baby girl. She has three more coming this week, and hopefully I can either help her with them at her house, or get my pen set up here.
I promise there will be pictures from my meeting with the kids tomorrow! (Get my joke :) )
