Anyways, here are some of the things we pass on our bus travels. I looked like a true tourist taking pictures out of a bus.
^Above is charcoals, the local burger place. You can get a burger for 15ec, 25ec for a grilled Angus burger. US that is around $6.50. They are about a two minute walk from our apartment.
Here's a nice looking house. I wanted to take some pictures of some of the nicer houses we pass so you could see it is not all eyesores outside of our compound.
Have I talked about traffic circles? Well, here is one. Interesting choice of materials I would say. Each one looks like it is constructed out of a new and interesting item from the junkyard. They don't even have to be round! We passed a triangular cone the other day.
And now were onto the school campus. It is beautiful! We walked all the way around it today, and it is very large and hilly. This is one of the main routes through campus.
Could not tell you what this is, but it's pretty!
They have a beach!
And a cliff, which I have heard is fun to jump off of.
And a cute little island which Sean wanted to swim to. Then he wanted to kayak, and I told him I would think about it
Pretty black beach!
These pictures are from out on the cliff of the school. You have to walk down a tiny little path to get there.
Jumping cliff?
Bird with lunch
Crabs!
Sgu has some very steep and narrow stairs. These scared me.
I spy a goat. Sorry for the blurry picture. The island is filled with goats. They are great animals becasue they will eat anything, so they use them to clean up the island. You will sometimes see herds of them tied up in new locations, better and cheaper than lawnmowers.
House next to the US embassy. We are about a 5 minute walk from the embassy.
And here is the fun part of our day. Everyone kept telling us that there was a wonderful Grenadian ice cream shop named Sugar and Spice right across the street from our apartment down a tiny little road. We walked over there today, since my plan to make ice cream failed, to buy some homemade ice cream. The cute little warehouse is surrounded by chain link and razor wire, but inside was really neat. It was actually a factory, and they sold the ice cream else ware, but they were nice enough to show us around and let us choose our ice cream flavor out of the freezer. There were tons of flavors, but I grabbed french vanilla and Sean got Cookies N Cream.
The local worker who took us into the freezer first made a joke that we would be used to the cold, unlike them who were wearing Eskimo like parkas. He then asked Sean what part of china he is from. Sean answered that he was actually from America. The guy then said he thought he was Chinese becasue of his squinty eyes, and proceeded to show us what squinty eyes looked like. We got a kick out of the awkwardness of the situation, but it was all in good fun.
Anyways, we got these two liters for $14 us, which we thought was pretty good for homemade delicious ice cream!
And here is one last picture, since we don't have dishes we started saving pasta jars to drink out of. Classy right?
I love today's adventures! Love the pasta jar idea & that you are coming up with so many new things to do & check out. The school looks amazing. Love the pretty houses.Think you should give in & kayak to the island.. Sean chinese??? LOL. I guess I don't see it..
ReplyDeleteBe safe & have fun!
