So we were invited to go to Grand Etang lake with all of the significant others. We left at 3:30, and began our trip up to 8000 feet above sea level.
Into the jungle!
Some of the hills were very steep. The car we were in overheated! And we were driving so fast I couldn't take very many pictures. I did learn quite a bit of trivia about the island. It is legal to drink and drive! As much as you want. There are also no/limited speed limits. No one abides by them, so it's just a free for all. The only thing it is illegal to do in a car is drive without a shirt on, weird huh?
On our way up the mountain we stopped at a monkey lookout spot, where all the monkeys hang around and wait for bananas. We saw a nice couple.
And then we got to the lake. It seriously looked like something out of Jurassic park! There were tons of fish, and giant orange coi swimming about. There is a 3 hour hiking trail walking all around the lake.
And of course Sean showed all the children how to catch fish. There were about 10 significant other couples, and just as many children under 8. We grilled hotdogs on sticks, and used white bread for the rolls. And of course we made s'mores.
Pictures back down the mountain!
I thought Dennis would enjoy this. It is the mural in thanks to the US troops. It reads "thank you USA for liberating us"
Well that is all the photos for today, and you guys are all caught up to right now. Hope you enjoyed them!
